Getting to Estero Beach Hotel / Resort is part of the enjoyment of visiting Baja California.
From San Diego, take Interstate Highway 5 or Interstate 805 south to the San Ysidro, California border crossing (at Tijuana).
There will be various freeway exit signs along the way including one reading 'Last U.S. Exit.' If you continue driving, the freeway takes you right into Mexico.
There are two roads that will bring you to Estero Beach Hotel / Resort. The toll road (cuota) and the free (libre) road. We recommend the Toll Road because it is well maintained, faster and easier with beautiful ocean views. The toll highway is also patrolled by the 'Green Angels,' a mobile mechanic that will assist you in the event you have mechanical problems. There are solar powered call boxes located about every two miles along the toll road. If you need help just pick up the phone and a bilingual operator will provide assistance.
The most direct route to the Toll Road is currently under construction so we are going to provide you with directions that include a small detour.
To get to the toll road from the border, climb the first small rise and then work your way into the right hand lane. You will see a sign labeled "ENSENADA / ROSARITO SCENIC ROAD". After you see this sign, follow the signs labeled "PLAYAS DE TIJUANA". These will take you to Toll Road which will lead you to Ensenada.
You will travel south on this highway (the Toll Road) for approximately 68 miles to the City of Ensenada. It is a beautiful trip. Some of northern Baja California's most spectacular scenery is along this route that glides along the coast with its unblemished views of the Pacific Ocean.
Please note that there are 3 Toll Booths on the toll road. The Current toll is approximately $2.60 per booth or $26 pesos. You may pay either in Dollars or in Pesos, but they will not accept a combination of the two!
About 10 minutes after passing through the third toll booth you will come to a fork in the road. Take the one to the right - this exit will lead you to Ensenada's Main road, Boulevard Costero.
Please note, When in Doubt about where to turn it is always best to stay along the ocean so that you do not get lost downtown.
Drive down this road for several blocks until you reach the fourth stoplight - turn left at this light. The name of this street is Agustin Sangines. There will be a naval base on the right. Proceed to the second stoplight (this is the Office Depot Shopping Center) - turn right at this light. The name of this street is Reforma / Highway 1 / Transpeninsular Highway.
Continue south on Reforma / Highway 1 / Transpeninsular Highway for approximately 2.5 miles. At this point you will pass a Military Air Base on the right-hand side of the road. Approximately 1/2 mile after the military base you will pass an AM/PM - PEMEX Gas Station located on the right-hand side of the road. Immediately following the Gas Station you will come to a light. Turn right at this light. The name of this street is Lázaro Cárdenas.
Proceed to the end of this street and then turn left. The name of this street is Lupita Novelo. The entrance to our Resort is at the end of this road. Get ready for the most wonderful, fun and relaxing vacation you have ever had!
